About Fairfield

Fairfield, located in the heart of Virginia’s hunt country near The Plains, was the home of John Buchanan Adams (1914 – 2001), a prominent Fauquier County civic leader and farmer, and the childhood home of his son, the current owner. Mr. Adams (senior) built the house in 1953 on a portion of his family’s larger estate, White Hall Farm, located just outside the town limits of The Plains and comprised of 800 acres that had been in the family since 1893. He operated the property as part of his farming business after returning to his hometown in 1948, and it is still a working farm. The residence at Fairfield, a handsome two-story brick Georgian-style structure, is situated on 20 acres and graced with numerous boxwood, magnolias, willow oaks, ginkgos and tulip poplars. It has lovely views in all directions and has been the venue for numerous festive gatherings- civic and community events, as well as family celebrations.

Directions: Fairfield is just off John Marshall Highway (Hwy 55) between Marshall and The Plains. From the stoplight in Marshall, drive east for 2.1 miles on Hwy 55, then turn right on Bunker Hill Road; the driveway for Fairfield is 800 feet on the left. From the stop sign in The Plains, drive west for 1.1 miles on Hwy 55, then left on Bunker Hill Road. From the stoplight in Middleburg, drive west on Rt. 50 for .2 miles and turn left on The Plains Road. Follow the road for 8.2 miles until reaching The Plains, then turn right on Main Street (Hwy 55); Bunker Hill Road is 1.2 miles on the left.
