Choose Your Adventure

Track 1: Guided Kayak Paddle (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM)

Kayak Adventure is Full – You can still register for the waitlist!

Enjoy a guided paddle along a scenic stretch of Goose Creek. All kayaks and gear are provided—just come prepared to get wet and wear water-friendly clothing. This is a unique opportunity to experience the creek from the water while learning about its ecology and conservation.

Track 2: Explore the Wildlife

Bird Walk (9:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
Join expert guides from Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy for a peaceful and informative walk, observing native birds in their natural habitat.

Aquatic Wildlife Demonstration (11:30 AM – 1:00 PM)
Discover what lies beneath the surface during a hands-on demonstration with GCA’s stream monitoring team. Learn how we assess water quality and identify aquatic life that indicates the health of the creek.

Lunch & Special Presentation (1:00 PM)

Enjoy a complimentary lunch generously provided by The Goodstone.

At 1 PM, while lunch is served, our Next Gen Creekkeepers will present their capstone projects. These student-led presentations highlight what they’ve learned about conservation, water quality, and stewardship throughout the program.

You are welcome to attend this portion of the event—no RSVP required.

Bring a blanket or camp chair if you’d like to stay and enjoy lunch on-site, or feel free to take your lunch to go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the event be held?
The event will take place in and along a section of Goose Creek that borders the Goodstone property. Directions to the exact location will be provided via email to all registrants. Please do not park at the Goodstone — specific parking instructions will be included in that email.
Is there a cost to the event?
There is no cost to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated and can be made during registration. If you’re not a member and would like to participate, you may become a member by donating at least $35 upon registering.
Can I participate in all three events?
Due to the timing of the Kayak Adventure, those participating in it will not be able to attend the Bird Walk or Aquatic Life Demonstration. However, if you choose the Bird Walk, you may also attend the Aquatic Life Demonstration. Please indicate your preferences clearly when registering.
Can I bring my own kayak?
No, personal kayaks are not permitted due to logistical constraints. All kayaks will be provided for registered participants.
Can I register my kids?
This event is not suitable for children under the age of 13. Youth ages 13–17 may attend but must be accompanied by an adult.
Will lunch be served at the site?
Yes, a complimentary boxed lunch will be generously provided by the Goodstone after the events conclude. Seating will not be available in the field, so you’re encouraged to bring a blanket or camp chair if you’d like to eat on-site. You’re also welcome to take your meal to go.
What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate outdoor attire and shoes suitable for walking or kayaking. We also recommend eco-friendly bug spray and sun protection. If you’re participating in the Kayak Adventure, be prepared to get wet — quick-dry clothing and water shoes are highly encouraged. Be ready for uneven terrain and changing conditions.
