2020 proved to be a challenging year for the “Goose Creek Challenge” riparian buffer program. Due to the Covid-19 mandates, we were not able to work with the local high schools for our plantings. Through our board, John Marshall Soil and Water District and the Department of Forestry we planted the following:
3 farms were planted
810 trees were planted
4,226 feet of streambed.
In addition to the plantings, we gave over 750 trees away during our spring and fall giveaways.
GCA also partnered with Weplanttrees.org from Fredericksburg to plant over 750 trees in the Goose Creek Watershed.
