Goose Creek Watch: Chemical, Bacterial, & Benthic Water Monitoring

Goose Creek Association is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with George Mason University’s Potomac Environmental Research and Education Center to enhance our chemical water monitoring efforts.

This collaboration allows for monthly DEQ Level III chemical and bacterial testing at eight sites within the Goose Creek watershed, further professionalizing our stream monitoring efforts. In addition, our volunteer-based benthic macroinvertebrate program is still operating, with certified citizen scientists helping to monitor the health of our streams.

Together, these initiatives are crucial in ensuring the long-term protection and preservation of Goose Creek’s water quality. We will be adding benthic monitoring results in the near future in partnership with Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy. The Downstream Project is providing our Creek Watch web integrations and data management utilizing Water Reporter, a platform developed by The Commons (see map below).
